MIMIPI Alliance ––Interface Specifications for Mobile and Beyond
MIPI 协会的总监,Peter Lefkin,为大家介绍 MIPI 规范的框架,涵盖移动设备及其产业链。MIPI协会成立于 2003 年,全球有超过 265 家成员公司,超过 15 个工作组,在过去 10 余年中,已针对移动设备产业链制定 45 余种规范,成员公司覆盖手机厂商、器件 OEMs、软件供应商、半导体公司、芯片设计者、IP供应商、测试方案商以及相机、掌上设备和电脑。
Peter Lefkin, Managing Director of MIPI Alliance, will provide a high level overview of the MIPI Alliance and its diverse specification framework. MIPI Alliance (MIPI) develops interface specifications for mobile and mobile-influenced industries. Founded in 2003, the organization has more than 265 member companies worldwide, more than 15 active working groups, and has delivered more than 45 specifications within the mobile ecosystem in the last decade. Members of the organization include handset manufacturers, device OEMs, software providers, semiconductor companies, application processor developers, IP providers, test and test equipment companies, as well as camera, tablet and laptop manufacturers.

Peter Lefkin is the Managing Director of the MIPI Alliance (http://www.mipi.org) since February 2011, having returned to the role after leading the establishment of its operational support structure in 2004.

Peter served as ISTO’s COO/CFO from January 1999 through February 2009 after which his focus was dedicated to support the vision, mission, goals and growth of the organization through business development and marketing as its Business Development and Marketing Executive from February 2009 through February 2012.

MIPI Alliance has created many new interfaces which are gaining wide adoption in the mobile and beyond-mobile spaces. What do they offer? What test resources are available from MIPI Alliance? How can I demonstrate the conformance and interoperability of my product? This presentation will show what resources are available to MIPI Alliance members and how implementers can get the most out of testing their implementations.

Speaker Bio: David Woolf currently leads Data Center and Mobile initiatives at the University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL). While at UNH-IOL, David has led development of dozens of industry-reviewed test programs and procedures as part of the team that has grown the UNH-IOL into a world-class center for interoperability and conformance testing. David has been an active participant in a number industry forums and committee’s addressing conformance and interoperability, currently serving as co-chair of the MIPI Alliance Testing Workgroup, and helping to launch MIPI Alliance Product Registry program.

Interoperability of different components in mobile devices shall be achieved through a variety of protocol standards such as MIPI CSI, DSI, UniPro or JEDEC UFS and their underlying physical layer standards such as MIPI M-PHY.
Integration of different vendor’s designs into a working system is simplified using standard conformant parts. Testing them according to the procedures outlined in the applicable Conformance Test Suites (CTS’s) guarantees their conformance.
However, increasing data rates, lower power dissipation and modularity of mobile devices (Google ARA) create challenges for debugging and conformance verification of the affected components.

Adoption of MIPI standards is accelerating, making design verification and interoperability critically important. Since MIPI standards are interface technologies, companies must have appropriate processes are in place to ensure that both sides of the MIPI link function properly. Failure to do so will result in devices that aren’t compatible, causing additional prototype spins, extended development schedules and longer time-to-market.
Effective verification processes test the physical layer, the link and application protocol layers and the complete system. Debug, stress testing and conformance/interoperability verification are critically important at the protocol layers, and this presentation will cover effective methods for verifying the UniPort-M link layer and UFS application layer. The focus will be on verification of conformance to the MIPI UniPro 1.6 and JEDEC UFS 2.0 specifications and the UniPro v1.0 CTS and JEDS224 UFS CTS.

Ross Nelson is the Chief Executive Officer of Protocol Insight™, a leader in MIPI protocol validation and test tool development.Ross has been in the test and measurement industry for over 25 years in general management, marketing, strategy, and international business development roles. He first managed protocol test tool development when he introduced a Bluetooth protocol analyzer in 2000. He also oversaw the introduction of the industry’s first PCI Express protocol tools and the industry’s first MIPI D-PHY and M-PHY tools.

Consumers expect sophisticated multimedia devices with Ultra-High-Definition (UHD) or 4K resolution display and camera as well as high-performance storage. To meet these demands, designers must integrate the optimal display, camera and mobile storage interface IP into their mobile SoCs while fitting more functionality into a smaller package and meeting power and cost goals. Camera, display and storage IP interfaces must support the latest standards and higher transmission speeds required to capture, store, and display high-resolution content streams. This presentation outlines design challenges and the IP solutions designers need to support UHD camera and display use-cases as well as high-throughput storage devices.

William SJ Chen

William Chen joined Synopsys in 2011 and is currently responsible for the Synopsys interface, analog and NVM IP technical support. Previously at TSMC, MediaTek, Alcor Micro and Nuvoton, he focused on IP design and characterization as well as research and development. William has extensive knowledge in JPEG loss/lossless compressor, low-cost CMOS image sensor, USB 2.0 PHY and power management circuit designs. He holds a PH.D. in Electronics Engineering from NTU.

刘好朋先生于 2007 年加入 Synopsys,现任职中国区FAE经理,之前曾任职海思,从事 IP 设计和实现,成功地促成了 MIPI IP 早期在中国的采纳,从 IP 到系统都有很深的经验,他毕业于西南交大,持有硕士学位。
Haopeng Liu
IP FAE Manager China, Synopsys
Haopeng Liu joined Synopsys in 2007 and is currently an FAE Manager for Synopsys. Previously at HiSilicon, he was focused on IP design and implementation. Haopeng successfully drove the early adoption of MIPI IP in China and has extensive technical knowledge from IP to systems. He holds an M.S. in Communication Engineering from Southwest Jiaotong University, China.
